The One Stop Application website allows citizens to apply for permits, licenses, and projects, as well as file a complaint with code enforcement and schedule inspections. It also allows citizens to track and search for permits, licenses, planning projects, and code enforcement violations.

You can save travel and waiting time by filing for permits and licenses online and checking your application’s status any time of day or night. You can also pay permit and occupational license fees online, and download and print your own building permits and other documents.

If you need immediate action on a permit application, or if you have a complicated special event or are not sure what is required for the project you’re planning, it may still be better to come to the One Stop Shop on the 7th floor of City Hall for in-person guidance.

No, our online services are offered free of charge. You are only responsible for the cost of your permit or application.

The physical location of the One Stop is on the 7th floor of City Hall at 1300 Perdido Street.

You will be able to pay for your permit or occupational license application once its status is “Permit Approved” or “Approved” (for licenses). In order to ensure that web users are being charged the correct fees, we do not require or allow payment before all reviews have been completed.

Once your application is approved you will be notified by email, and when you view your application on the OneStopApp you will see a “Pay Fees” link on the same line as the “View”, “Print Summary”, and “Add to Watch List” links.

When you click on the “Pay Fees” link the fees will be added to your shopping cart, where you will be able to review them before submitting payment. You can pay for up to 10 fees at one time.

If your credit card’s billing address is different than the mailing address you used when you registered for the OneStopApp, please make sure to click the “Specify my billing address” button.

You can look up a permit, license, planning project, or violation by the following:

  • Address (street address only – no city, state, or zip code)
  • Licensed contractor name
  • License holder name
  • Reference Code
  • Permit/License/Case Number

First, make sure to leave off city, state, zip code, and any apartment or suite number if your address has one. For example, to apply for a permit at “1300 Perdido St, Suite 7E03, New Orleans, LA 70112”, begin your permit application by searching for “1300 Perdido St”. You’ll be able to enter an apartment/suite number on the next screen, and we don’t need the city, state, or zip code to locate the address.

There are a few reasons why an address might not be found when you search:

  • It’s not an address legally recognized by the City. The address you’re used to seeing and using might not be one that is officially associated with the parcel of land it’s on.
  • The City’s GIS department may still be updating your neighborhood, especially if there has been a recent subdivision.
  • There may be an address error in our database.

If you’ve tried entering an address without an apartment/suite number, city, state, or zip code and still can’t find it, please call the One Stop Shop at (504) 658-7100 for assistance in determining what the legal address is for the location you’re searching for.

There is no limit to the size of a project when you file an online application. Larger-scale projects may require more documentation, which you can upload with your application or send to your Plan Reviewer once you are assigned one.

Yes. You will receive an email when your permit or license application is approved. If we need more information before we can approve your permit or license application, our analysts and/or reviewers will contact you using the email address or phone number you provided when you registered as a OneStopApp user.

In order to protect license holders from fraudulent use of their license numbers online, we require holders of valid Class A Mechanical and Electrical licenses to come in person once to the One Stop Shop at City Hall to verify their web accounts.

To expedite the process, please register as a OneStopApp user before you come to City Hall. Bring your City license(s) and ask at the reception desk in the One Stop Shop on the 7th floor of City Hall to have online permitting enabled for your license.

Once your license is verified and your license number is connected to your OneStopApp user account, you will be able to view and select Mechanical and/or Electrical permit types whenever you are logged in to the OneStopApp.

Some building permits require stamped plans or other documents. Every online permit application has a section where you can browse for files on your computer and upload them. The size limit is 25MB, so exceptionally large plans may need to be broken up into smaller files.

If you need to add more documents after your application is submitted and you are the original web applicant, you can upload additional documents by clicking the “View” button under your permit address and scrolling down to the “Submit a General Document” section of the application page.

Please see our Standards for Digital Submission for a full explanation of our digital document requirements.

You can apply for as many individual permits/business licenses as you want. You can view the summary of your current and past applications by using the “Your Items” button.

Yes, we are working on adding additional permit and license types to our online application website. Please note that we do not allow online application for some Mardi Gras related permits (Location Vendor and Walker permits), occupational license renewals, and alcoholic beverage licenses.

As soon as your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging that we received your application. One of our intake analysts will review your application and if it is complete, he/she will process it. In some cases, analysts will need additional information and/or clarification regarding your application and will contact you. You will receive a notification email as soon as a decision has been made regarding your application.

All that’s left before your permit or license can be issued is payment. You can pay online using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover, or you can bring a check or money order to the One Stop Shop on the 7th floor of City Hall. As soon as your permit or license is paid for, you’ll be able to download and print your permit or temporary license document.
